Media Bush Bashing Continues
February 1, 2006 | |
Although a CBS poll shows that three-fourths of the people who watched the State-of-the-Union speech January 31, 2006 said they approve of the proposals made by Bush, you wouldn’t know it by the media ciriticism surrounding the event. MSM all seemed to have received their talking points from the Democratic Mother Ship.
For an interesting overview of major media coverage, read this piece from Newsbusters.
My favorite moment of the night: Bush mentions that Congress did not act on his proposal to reform Social Security. So, Democrats broke into wild cheering for their own lack of action.
As if on cue, Bush continues, “Yet the rising cost of entitlements is a problem that is not going away. And every year we fail to act, the situation gets worse. So tonight, I ask you to join me in creating a commission to examine the full impact of baby boom retirements on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.”
UPDATE: Peter Schramm of the Ashbrook Center agrees with me on the revealing Democratic moment during the President’s speech. Cheering because they have avoided one of our most pressing issues shows their hollowness, according to Schramm.
