CNN “Respect for Islam” Shows Media Hypocrisy

CNN today said it would not show the cartoons of the prophet Mohammad that have caused such a stir in Europe. This is, the news organization says, “in respect for Islam.” One cartoon depicts the founder of Islam wearing a turban resembling a bomb, and Muslims consider it sacrilegious to produce a likeness of Mohammad. This is the height of hypocrisy. Have you ever known CNN to self censor itself when it comes to any other religion? This is what we have come to expect from the “news” organization that kowtowed to Saddam Hussein when he was in power by not reporting negative stories so they could keep open their Baghdad bureau. This appeasement by the media and European governments only reinforces Muslim extremism. And it continues to erode public confidence in the media. Report the facts, all the facts, and let us decide what to do with them.
