Bad PR 101

February 7, 2006 | |

A reporter friend of mine dropped me a note about a recent bad interview experience that is probably all too frequent, particularly when doctors are involved. Doctors are often treated as if they are superior beings and sometimes they begin to believe it, and so do those around them.

Anyway, this reporter recently set up an interview with some doctors at their clinic. Time of interview was around the lunch hour. The PR person for the doctors called the reporter and asked if she was planning to bring sandwiches to serve during the interview! The PR person explained that was  expected given that it was an intrusion on the doctors’ schedule.

Never, ever do this, PR people. Do you think the White House press corps brings lunch for the President?
