Newspapers, which have lost their stranglehold on our information, are now losing circulation rapidly. So, they try to pretend everything is all right by sponsoring surveys to show how relevant they still are. Case in point, a recent survey by Outsell is being touted because it shows 61 percent of consumers still look to newspapers for their local news.
The study also says that consumers “prefer the Web as the best route to news and information about health, personal finance and travel.” That, my friends, is where the money is. The link between newspaper reading and shopping has been broken. And, the newspaper readers are older. These facts add up to a slow death for newspapers.
