Capitol Hill media doyenne Helen Thomas has made no secret of her disdain for President George W. Bush. But at yesterday’s press conference, Bush called on Thomas to ask a question. She did not question, she only hurled invective and continually tried to interrupt him. When I was a journalist, I may not have liked the person I was interviewing, but I was always civil and asked questions. I was never accusatory, and I let the interviewee finish his point even if I didn’t agree with it. There is nothing wrong with asking tough questions. More journalists should be doing it. But Thomas’ shameful attack sets a new low for the White House Press Corps.  At 85, Helen Thomas has lost what little credibility she still had. Let it go, Helen.
